What is the Pathways to Shine Specialty Plan?

This is the new version of the Child Welfare Plan (CWSP) offered as of Feburary 1st 2025. This health plan continues to serve children in foster care in Florida. This new plan includes the health coverage that was offered by CWSP which provides preventative care, screenings, and diagnostic services. However, that are even more benefits :

  • Foster Care Comfort kits: This includes a duffle bag filled with many items including a blanket, a journal and pen, books, games, a stuffed animal, a stress ball, a fidget spinner, and ear buds
  • Over the Counter Benefit: This includes basic products that can help with everyday health and wellness. This includes vitamins, supplements, pain relievers, insect repellent, skin care, oral hygiene products, and cold and allergy medicine
  • Transportation: Kids that don’t have any other access to transportation can get up to three trips a month for events that are not medical appointments such as shopping or social events.
  • YMCA Membership: This gives kids access to free standing at YMCA facilities and Y360 virtual platform
  • Educational vouchers: This gives kids 16 and older the chance to get a 150$ voucher after completing the Sunshine Health Works Launchpad Educational Modules.
  • Vital Records Support: This gives kids $50 reimbursement for copies of personal documentation, such as driver’s license or birth certificate.
  • Tutoring: This benefit gives kids 16 and older access to 12 anual  tutoring sessions for two hours a session.
  • Smartphone benefit: kids 16 and older can receive a free smartphone that includes minutes, data, and texts.
  • Care Grant: Up to $150 per year for tutoring, gym memberships, swimming lessons, sports equipment/supplies, or art supplies/workbooks.
